Lovecraft, Tom Sizemore get beat by the girls of House of Bad

LOS ANGELES, California (May 22, 2013) – Amidst a slew of films with bigger budgets, A-list actors, and famous cinematographers, House of Bad took home the Fan Favorite award at this past weekend’s Big Bear Horro-Fi 2013 Film Festival.

“Winning this award proves what you can accomplish when you have an interesting story and compelling characters, regardless of budget,” said director Jim Towns after the awards ceremony. “We were also fortunate to have a great post-production staff that was able to bring out the vibrancy and drama of the movie through score and sound design.”

Final production on House of Bad completed in late 2012, and screeners of the film were sent out to reviewers and sales reps.  From small movie blogs to big sites like Ain’t It Cool News, feedback has been positive. Reviewers are calling House of Bad “a pretty impressive piece of low budget genre cinema”, “a really emotional tale”, “fresh, sexy and unsettling”, “a fine example of what the low budget indie scene has to offer”, “the supernatural thriller could easily pass for one of the modest majors, or something that is level in quality of an HBO series”, and “a smarter version of a 70’s grindhouse bad girl flick”.

The movie made its domestic debut at the 2013 Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival, which took place in the beautiful mountain resort of Big Bear, CA May 18th through 19th. Though there were some technical glitches during the screening, House of Bad went home with the Fan Favorite award.

House of Bad is a 95-minute feature film about three sisters on the run with a suitcase full of stolen drugs, yearning to break free from their sordid pasts. When the eldest sister Teig decides they’re going to hide out in their old, abandoned family house, its painful memories quickly become too real to fight off.  Unable to distinguish dreams from reality, this attempt at a new lease on life turns into a race for survival.  To find out more, please visit www.houseofbad.com
